Assistant Chief Engineer Manager (Caribbean Experience Required)

Location: Providenciales, Turks & Caicos

Reports To: Maintenance Manager

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Assistant Chief Maintenance Manager to support the daily engineering and maintenance operations of a busy beachfront resort in Turks & Caicos. This is the number two role within the department, working closely with the Chief Engineer to oversee a maintenance team.

The successful candidate will be a strong leader with a practical, hands-on approach, capable of driving team performance while maintaining high operational and guest service standards across the resort.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead, supervise, and motivate a maintenance team of approximately 20 staff
  • Assist with scheduling, task allocation, and departmental workflow management
  • Conduct team briefings and support ongoing staff development and training
  • Foster a positive and productive team environment focused on efficiency and guest satisfaction
  • Provide hands-on support and assist with repairs when required
Maintenance Operations
  • Oversee preventative maintenance programs across guest rooms, public areas, utilities, and back-of-house facilities
  • Supervise maintenance and repair of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, pool, pumps, generators, and mechanical systems
  • Conduct regular inspections and ensure timely resolution of maintenance issues
  • Ensure plant rooms, workshops, and operational areas remain clean, safe, and organized
  • Support emergency maintenance responses and operational troubleshooting when required
Administration & Systems
  • Manage maintenance work orders, reporting, and departmental documentation
  • Assist with budget control, expense monitoring, and inventory management
  • Maintain maintenance records, procedures, SOPs, and operational checklists
  • Utilize systems such as HOTSOS, OPERA, Microsoft Office, and workforce management platforms
  • Support capital planning and preventative maintenance scheduling
Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Promote safe work practices and lead by example within the department
  • Assist in emergency preparedness and response planning
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors to ensure work meets resort standards and compliance requirements
Guest Service
  • Respond professionally and efficiently to guest maintenance requests
  • Maintain resort standards by ensuring facilities are operating safely and efficiently
  • Support a service-focused culture throughout the maintenance department

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in maintenance or engineering operations, preferably within hospitality or resort environments
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, electrical, pumps, generators, pools, and utility systems
  • Proven leadership experience managing maintenance teams
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills
  • Experience with preventative maintenance systems and operational reporting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems
  • Hospitality or Caribbean resort experience required

Compensation & Benefits

  • Approximate salary of USD $46,000 per annum
  • Housing provided
  • Service charge estimated at approximately USD $15,000 annually
