Overview

We are looking for a proactive HR Officer / Advisor to provide high-quality, professional HR support across the employee lifecycle. This role places particular emphasis on recruitment, compliance, payroll support, and operational HR administration within a busy and highly regulated environment. This role is on site near Guilford.

Description

  • Lead and manage end-to-end recruitment, ensuring compliance with safer recruitment and pre-employment checks
  • Partner with hiring managers to define roles, draft job descriptions, and attract high-quality candidates
  • Deliver an efficient onboarding and induction process for all new starters
  • Maintain accurate employee records, HR systems, and the Single Central Register
  • Support employee relations processes including probation reviews, disciplinaries, grievances, and absence management
  • Provide HR advice and guidance to managers and staff, ensuring policy compliance
  • Collaborate with finance to support payroll preparation, salary changes, and related administration
  • Prepare contracts, contract variations, and HR documentation in line with policy
  • Monitor and record absence and leave, ensuring compliance with processes and timely reporting
  • Produce HR data and management information to support decision-making
  • Contribute to the development and optimisation of HR systems and processes
  • Ensure all HR practices are compliant with safeguarding, employment law, and data protection requirements

Profile

A successful HR Officer should have:

  • CIPD Level 3 (minimum)
  • Solid HR generalist experience with strong exposure to recruitment and compliance
  • Background in a regulated or complex environment (education, healthcare, manufacturing, etc.) preferred
  • Confident in handling fast-paced recruitment and onboarding processes with accuracy
  • Good understanding of employment law, safeguarding, and data management
  • High attention to detail with excellent organisational skills
  • Strong communicator, able to build relationships across all levels
  • Discreet, professional, and comfortable managing sensitive matters
  • Proficient in HR systems and Microsoft Office; knowledge of iTrent or iSAMS an advantage
