Beverage/Wine Director (Sommelier)

Salary: $100,000 + quarterly bonus + wine sales incentives + benefits + relocation support
Housing: Subsidised accommodation ($2K/month approx.)
Additional: PTO, benefits package, potential vehicle support, relocation assistance

We are seeking a highly experienced hands-on Sommelier / Beverage leader to act as the second-in-command to the Director of Food & Beverage, supporting the continued elevation of this already highly regarded luxury island resort.

This is a key leadership role responsible for driving beverage excellence, guest engagement, and wine programme performance, with ambitions to further elevate the property toward Michelin recognition (3 Keys / Michelin Star aspiration).

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a 300–400 label wine programme with a strong focus on premium and luxury positioning
  • Be highly visible on the floor, actively engaging with guests and driving wine sales
  • Train, mentor, and educate service teams on wine knowledge, upselling, and guest experience
  • Implement wine sales incentive programmes to drive revenue performance
  • Support F&B leadership in daily operations across restaurant and bar
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of F&B on service standards, guest experience, and strategic direction
  • Maintain strong financial awareness including beverage cost control, inventory, and revenue optimisation
  • Ensure world-class service standards aligned with luxury brands such as Aman and Six Senses level operations
  • Support continuous improvement toward Michelin-level service expectations

 

Candidate Profile

  • Experienced Sommelier (minimum WSET Level 2 required; higher preferred)
  • Strong background in luxury hotels, resorts, or Michelin-level environments
  • Proven experience with high-value wine programmes (300–400 SKUs or similar)
  • Hands-on, guest-facing operator who enjoys being on the floor
  • Strong financial and commercial awareness
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Discreet, personable, and comfortable working with ultra-high-net-worth clientele
  • Experience in Florida, Caribbean, or island resort environments strongly preferred
  • US work authorisation required

 

Ideal Background

  • Sommelier, Wine Director, Beverage Director, or Assistant Director of F&B background
  • Experience supporting or operating in Michelin aspiration environments
